the ol' guard
I recently sat down at a Republican round table tossing out ideas for the coming 2014 elections and some of our local elections. I did so with a friend of mine within the party, I did not introduce myself. I went mainly to listen and absorb, what I heard was scary. It began with the normal discussions about fiscal responsibilities and tax cuts. It continued with pro-business discussions and the SBA. I was actually excited, I felt we were going to have a platform that everyone could get behind. It did not take long for it to all go to hell. The insults were rampant, "this uneducated, arrogant S.O.B thinks we roll over and ignore gay marriage. Claiming we are the party of the Constitution and that makes it O.K.." He continued "This so called Blue Collar guy wants us to stop pursuing pro-life initiatives and regulate ALL clinics." I kinda chuckled and after an hour of jotting down notes and taking a beating on what I proposed on Social issues I spoke up, "Yes you bumbling idiots, I did propose that we take a more neutral stance on gay marriage and a more tactical front against abortion." I continued "I also stated that as the party that claims to be pro-Constitution it is our responsibility to unify this nation. We can no longer be Gay-Americans, African-Americans, White-Americans, Hispanic-Americans etc etc, we must all stand together as Constitution Fiscal Conservatives. Until we become Social Libertarians as a party the rest doesn't matter. We will never win the majority of the minority votes if we allow the Democrats to divide this nation on race, sex, sexuality and religion."
I stood up and after thanking him for reading my piece I walked out of the meeting. My greatest fear as a leader of the "Conservatarians" is that the ol' guard is sitting behind closed doors peddling this crap out and convinced its the best route for Republicans. I am asking all the young, vibrant leaders who can articulate the beliefs I have stated to go to these meeting and teach the "leaders" and "smart people" that we must defend our Constitution for ALL AMERICANS!! That we are the party of the people, that the Democrats oppress the nation by creating subcategories of Americans. We stand for equality for all, less intrusive Government, a completely revamp tax code that is fair, balanced and taxes 100% of the people not 51-53%. You all know my stump speech, you all know my manifesto and platform. We need to convince the "wizards of smart" that the uneducated arrogant Blue Collar guy gets the struggle better than they do. I've studied for years what works and what doesn't. I may not have a fancy Ivy League diploma, but I am REAL WORLD EXPERIENCE and kind of a history buff.
Guys and gals of the Millennial generation we need you all to get this country back to the basics of what works. We are the greatest Country in the world, its about time we act like it!!!
